ABOUT MICHAEL JAMES

I am an experienced attorney, law professor and public speaker. I hold an LL.M. with an emphasis in national security law and policy and possess extensive experience conducting legal research and drafting legal opinions, contracts, documents and substantive memoranda. Additionally, I am a member in good standing of the State Bars of Texas and Connecticut, and I also hold the Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) credential. My past practical experience includes service as a Senior Assistant County Attorney for the Harris County Attorney’s Office, as an Attorney Advisor for the U.S. Small Business Administration, as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Damon J. Keith, United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and as an Associate, Corporate & Securities Law for Bracewell, LLP. In addition to my practical experience, I possess more than sixteen years of teaching experience in the areas of federal and state civil procedure, comparative law, constitutional law, consumer protection law, criminal law, and tort law at both the undergraduate and law school levels. Privacy law has always been a central part of my personal research agenda and I regularly incorporated this vital subject into my consumer protection law, tort law and constitutional law curricula. Moreover, in 2014, my article on comparative privacy law was published by the University of Connecticut School of Law’s Journal of International Law (Michael C.
