ABOUT MICHAEL HUME

I am an accomplished highly motivated IT leader with over four years experience leading distributed development teams in designing, implementing and performance tuning large scale OLTP, ETL and batch processing solutions. I am an advocate of using agile development practices and strongly believe there is no reason these can’t be applied to database development, allowing teams to deliver business driven value earlier with higher levels of quality built in.I am driven to create a delivery focused culture which breeds innovation and continual improvement through knowledge sharing, bringing about fast predicable IT change for the business.I regularly organise, present and facilitate large open space forums with a mixture of technical teams or senior business leaders. Providing coaching, leadership, vision and promoting knowledge sharing to ensure distributed teams feel part of a community that share common interests and goals.As well as being a professional, reliable team leader I always strive to ensure that the working environment is as engaging and motivating as possible. Work should be fun and I believe motivated people deliver high-quality results.I remain highly technical with a good understanding within my field of expertise. My particular areas of expertise include lean and agile principles, continuous delivery, enterprise scale SQL Server solutions, low latency OLTP solutions, financial application and modern scalable architectures.I am very ambitious and always welcome new challenges and responsibilities that keep work and life exciting.
