Embedded Office - Work Experience @Embedded Office
WHAT WE DO: We help companies to reduce the development costs for regulatory approval of their safety-critical product through a pre-certified safety platform combined with safety mentoring services without the risk of acceptance during the product development. HOW WE DO IT:Our clients receive a software platform as a foundation for their own safety-critical product development. The benefit of this software platform is the flexibility in the hardware requirements. It scales from a tiny microcontroller up to big processors. The client can configure the platform to contain several features like a Real-time Operating System (RTOS) or functions to guarantee a safe operation. We provide integration service for existing or other 3rd party software components. WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT: As a client, you get a team of safety experts, who take responsibility for the project\'s success. You also get fast-reacting and competent support from engineer to engineer - worldwide. You will experience a transparent and honest way of working with respect to each team member and open feedback culture. LEARN MOREWould you like to learn more? ABOUT MICHAEL HILLMANN
I build safety-critical software that helps make the world a safer place. As CEO and Embedded Software Engineer at Embedded Office, I develop certified real-time operating systems (RTOS) for automotive, medical devices, aerospace, and industrial automation. Our main product, the Flexible Safety RTOS, is already certified for ISO 26262, IEC 62304, DO-178C, and EN 50128. For aerospace projects, we support DO-178C certification on a project-specific basis.WHAT I DOI spent the last 25+ years working on safety-critical embedded systems - from architecture design to certification support. My focus is on building software components that reduce certification overhead while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. Our RTOS provides memory protection, mixed-criticality support, and flexible configuration with validation tooling. We help engineering teams focus on their innovation instead of reinventing certified foundations.HOW I WORKI believe in modern leadership principles (Simon Sinek\'s WHY), psychological safety in teams, and respecting the complexity of safety-critical systems. There are no \"simple solutions\" in this field - only well-engineered ones.My approach to software architecture is influenced by philosophical concepts: loose coupling as non-attachment, interfaces as boundaries, abstraction as clarity. Good architecture isn\'t just technical - it\'s a mindset.WHAT I CARE ABOUTBeyond RTOS development, I\'m interested in:• Digital sovereignty in embedded toolchains• IT infrastructure and security• Psychology in project management• Team dynamics in safety-critical environments• Continuous learning (always)WHAT I SHARE HEREI don\'t post frequently - I\'m not the extroverted type who loves constant visibility. When I do share content, it\'s about teaching rather than telling: technical insights, architectural patterns, lessons learned from real projects. If you\'re working on safety-critical embedded systems and want to discuss RTOS integration, certification challenges, or team dynamics in complex projects, feel free to connect.
