About Michael Hill

Healthcare leadership is often discussed in terms of titles, metrics, and strategy. For me, it has always been shaped by people and pressure.I came up through emergency and trauma nursing, including time as a flight nurse, where decisions matter immediately and teamwork is not optional. Those years formed how I think, lead, and show up. When you’ve stood at the bedside in moments that change lives, you don’t forget who healthcare is actually for.Today, as a Nursing Supervisor at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center, I lead ambulatory and outpatient teams while remaining clinically connected to the work. My focus is on building environments where patient safety, operational excellence, and staff development are not competing priorities but shared responsibilities. That means addressing workflow gaps, improving quality indicators, mentoring leaders, and being present when teams need support most.Earlier in my career, I served in executive operations roles, including Regional Vice President of Operations for multi-site pediatric surgery centers. With fiscal responsibility exceeding $20M, I led strategic initiatives that strengthened financial performance, standardized operations, and improved patient outcomes across multiple facilities. Those experiences sharpened my understanding of how systems succeed or fail based on the decisions leaders make upstream.Across every role, my leadership philosophy has stayed consistent: strong systems exist to serve people, not the other way around. Burnout, disengagement, and silence are leadership problems before they are staff problems. Accountability and empathy are not opposites, and clarity is one of the most compassionate things a leader can provide.I hold both a BSN and an MBA in Healthcare, but my greatest education has come from the teams I’ve led and the patients I’ve served. Recognized with the DAISY Award for Nursing Ethics, I remain committed to stewarding healthcare environments where people feel safe, heard, and valued.Leadership in healthcare is not about control or ego. It is about responsibility, courage, and leaving systems better than we found them.
