ABOUT MICHAEL HAMILTON

Michael Hamilton, BVM & S CertSAS DipECVS MRCVS is of the UK\'s leading specialist veterinary orthopaedic and neurosurgeons. He is a European Specialist in Small Animal Surgery and an RCVS Recognised Specialist in Small Animal Surgery (Orthopaedics).He graduated from The University of Edinburgh in 1998 and following a period in general veterinary practice, in 2002 he embarked upon an intensive four-year specialist surgical training programme at The University of Cambridge. His ‘residency’ focused purely on small animal surgery and in 2007 Michael became a European Specialist in Small Animal Surgery. He joined Fitzpatrick Referrals as a Senior orthopaedic and spinal surgeon in 2008 where he worked for five years before leaving to set-up his own surgical referral service. Michael has extensive experience in complex surgical procedures including; joint replacements, spinal surgery and advanced tumour resections. He has a particular interest in cruciate ligament injury and elbow dysplasia and has lectured both nationally and internationally on these, and many other topics.With over 15 years in specialist referral work, Michael decided to open the Hamilton Specialist Referrals pet hospital, based in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. He believes there is a huge opportunity to improve the welfare and quality-of-life for our pets using cutting-edge medical technology. Staff wellbeing is a major part of the Hamilton’s brand ethos to the direct benefit of patients and clients alike.He lives in Marlow, with his wife Clare, who is a veterinary general practitioner. The couple have two young children, a cat called Winston and a dog named Bumble.
