About Michael Hall

After more than 35 years at KPMG, culminating as a Partner in the National Office, I’ve built a career at the intersection of accounting, auditing and regulation. As a trusted advisor to legal teams, boards, and regulators, I’ve helped organizations across a variety of stages and industries to navigate some of their most complex challenges.I’ve led cross-functional teams through high-stakes matters involving liquidity, transparency, and regulatory scrutiny. As KPMG’s Americas Region Financial Assets and Services Topic Team Leader until 2024, I integrated multiple technical teams to streamline client support surrounding financial instruments, financial services, fair value, and digital assets. Earlier in my career, I co-founded and scaled a 500+ person Technical Accounting Advisory practice, delivering client-tailored solutions to financial institutions and other companies in areas including loans and investments, SEC pre-filing letters, revenue recognition, financial statement carve-outs, and debt and equity issuances. In addition to my client-facing roles, I’ve served on influential industry boards and committees, which have deepened my understanding of regulatory trends, emerging risks, and the evolving expectations of boards and oversight bodies. As a KPMG thought leader and instructor, I’ve helped shape national firm guidance on financial instruments, consolidation, fair value, digital assets, and climate-related disclosures while working closely with key regulators like the SEC, Federal Reserve, OCC, and FDIC.
