Michael R. Gillespie is Senior Advisor to Hersha Hotels & Resorts, (formerly Hersha Hospitality Trust, a publicly traded real estate investment trust, NYSE: HT) that owns and operates high quality, upscale hotels in urban gateway markets. For 19 years, Michael served as the Company\'s Chief Accounting Officer and was responsible for the Hersha\'s accounting, financial reporting and audit functions and lead Hersha’s risk management and compliance programs. In his years with Hersha, the Company grew from $256 million in assets to more than $2 billion prior to going private in 2023. Hersha has been named one of the Fastest Growing Companies in Central Pennsylvania.Michael was recognized by the Central Penn Business Journal in 2011, as “CFO of the Year” in the category of Growth Specialist and in 2012 was recognized as a recipient of the “Forty Under 40” award.Prior to joining Hersha, Michael was manager of financial policy & controls for Tyco Electronics Corporation, and served as a senior manager with the \"Big Four\" firms of Arthur Andersen LLP and KPMG LLP.Mr. Gillespie is a 1995 graduate of Bloomsburg University, where he studied accounting and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Bloomsburg University Foundation and The Foundation for Enhancing Communities and formerly served on the Board of Directors of The United Way of the Capital Region. In 2014, Michael was recognized by the Bloomsburg University Alumni Association as the William T. Derricott Volunteer of the Year award recipient.
