ABOUT MICHAEL G. FRANC

Michael currently serves as Chief Research Officer at the Foundation for Research on Equal Opportunity (FREOPP). He oversees FREOPP\'s activities in Washington, D.C. This includes marketing the policy ideas generated by FREOPP\'s scholars to several key audiences - i.e, Capitol Hill, Executive Branch agencies, think tanks, trade associations, foundations, as well as to lawmakers at the state level. Michael most recently served as a Senior Fellow for both the Buckeye Institute and C3 Solutions, representing both think tanks in Washington. Previously, Michael served as the first director of DC Programs for the Hoover Institution where he oversaw research and outreach initiatives to promote ideas and scholarship in our nation’s capital. He also held a dual appointment for Hoover as a research fellow. As a longtime veteran of D.C. policy making and legislative strategy, he advanced the work of Hoover\'s scholars to policy professionals on Capitol Hill and the executive branch agencies, thought leaders within think-tanks and universities, and the diplomatic corp in Washington. Prior to joining Hoover, Franc served as policy director and counsel for House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy. He also served as the Vice President of government relations for the Heritage Foundation from 19••••13. During this time he managed all the think tank’s outreach with Capitol Hill and the Executive Branch. He also completed a tour of duty as communications director for former House Majority Leader Dick Armey (R-TX) and worked for the U.S. Department of Education and the Office of National Drug Control Policy. He has been quoted widely in the print and broadcast media, and was a regular contributor to The National Review Online and other publications. Franc has a BA from Yale University and a JD from Georgetown University.
