As a Mechanical Project Engineer at Saint-Gobain’s Peachtree City plant, I play a key role in the execution of a $150M expansion project to convert our shingles manufacturing line from a two-wide to a four-wide system — one of the most significant infrastructure upgrades in the facility’s history.In this role, I’m responsible for leading the mechanical scope of work, coordinating across multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring the timely delivery of high-impact systems critical to the line’s performance. This includes: Piping Systems – Overseeing the design, installation, and commissioning of compressed air (CA), hot oil, water, and other utility piping systems across the entire facility. Project Planning & Execution – Driving work breakdown structures (WBS), setting schedules, and managing resources across 20+ equipment assets to ensure alignment with shutdown and commissioning windows. Vendor & Contractor Management – Collaborating with contractors like Amcon Mechanical to manage lockout/tagout (LOTO), procurement, installation, and inspection of mission-critical systems. Bid Package Development – Writing scopes of work (SOW), safety documentation, bid instructions, and contractor qualification packages to maintain compliance and clarity across all mechanical scopes. Site Safety & Compliance – Enforcing OSHA standards, leading daily job walks, resolving safety concerns, and managing rooftop access systems, guardrails, and confined space protocols. Commissioning Support – Coordinating equipment readiness with internal teams and vendors, ensuring mechanical systems are installed and tested to meet production deadlines.Through this project, I’ve honed my ability to lead under pressure, communicate cross-functionally, and solve complex field issues in real time — all while contributing to a transformative upgrade that positions Saint-Gobain for the next decade of innovation and growth.
