ABOUT MICHAEL FRAIN

I\'m a Programme Manager with a background in Civil Engineering and Project Management. After graduating from the University of Warwick in 2008 I began work as a graduate site engineer and worked myself up to Project Manager level before making the switch to planning and project controls. I have experience building tender and CL31 programmes, both from first principles and with input from supply chain partners, and managing the programme throughout design, construction and handover stages. I have experience cost and resource loading schedules and using this information to further assist in the planning of works and tracking progress during delivery. My engineering and project management background allows me to provide proactive input to delivery teams both from a construction and commercial perspective. I primarily use Primavera P6, supplemented with MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and other tools to help communicate programme logic, phasing, constraints, progress and productivity to the team. Outside of work I\'m a keen hiker and enjoy a challenge, completing the Pennine Way in 2018. I\'m also a fan of reformer Pilates, cycling and indoor climbing. I enjoy learning new skills, recently completing an amateur pottery class, although I don\'t see this being a career change! I\'m a people person and enjoy working in a team as well as networking and socialising outside of work. What I enjoy about my role is that it spans the full range of disciplines and specialisms required to deliver a successful project and involves working with stakeholders and clients, both internal and external, to bring together ideas, produce effective and achievable plans and work through problems. It isn’t “Michael’s programme” it’s the project’s programme.
