About Michael Fleming
Michael Fleming is the Senior Director of Online Support and Academic Technology at Columbia University’s School of Professional Studies, where he leads a team focused on the effective delivery, training, and support of core academic technologies and learning platforms. With over a decade of experience in online education, he brings a strategic, user-centered approach to digital learning environments.Alongside his academic career, Michael has maintained a strong presence in the contemporary art world. He is the Co-Founder of Selenas Mountain, an independent gallery formerly based in Chelsea and Ridgewood, NY, which he operated from 20••••24 before leaving the business. He also previously founded MOUNTAIN, an underground but acclaimed Bushwick loft gallery from 20••••18 that was featured in The New York Times, Artnet News, Brooklyn Magazine, and more. Michael has held previous positions as Co-Producer/Curator of the IMPACT Performance Festival, Chicago, IL; Co-Director/Board Member of artist-run space OPENSOURCE Art, Champaign, IL; Gallery Assistant at Gladstone Gallery, NY and Rowley Kennerk Gallery, Chicago, IL. As an artist, he collaborated with his twin brother Alan Fleming from 2005–2015, producing internationally exhibited works in performance, video, and sculpture. Their joint practice included residencies at the Oxbow School of Art, ACRE, NARS Foundation, and the Bronx Museum’s AIM Program. They have exhibited and performed internationally, including shows in Denmark, Germany, Mexico, Scotland, and the Ukraine. Michael holds an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, a BFA from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and a Business Certificate from Columbia University.
