As Chief Executive Officer, Michael Fiddelke leads more than team members committed to helping all families discover the joy of everyday life. As part of his strategic vision for the company, he has outlined priorities designed to leverage Target’s unique strengths and drive long-term growth: leading with merchandising authority, elevating the guest experience, accelerating technology, and strengthening team and communities. Michael’s rise from intern to CEO has given him a deep and distinct understanding of the business, fostered relationships across teams and fueled his passion for Target’s growth and success for decades to come. He has held a variety of leadership positions across the organization, including finance, merchandising, human resources and operations. As chief operating officer, and previously chief financial officer, he oversaw investments to build and scale the company’s stores, supply chain, digital capabilities and team, which enabled exponential growth across the business. More recently, he has led changes to reshape how Target operates, strengthening the company, increasing speed and agility and positioning the business to better serve guests today and into the future. In addition to his Target responsibilities, Michael serves on the executive committee of the National Retail Federation and on the board of the Retail Industry Leaders Association. Prior to Target, Michael worked at Deloitte Consulting, LLP. He has an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering from the University of Iowa.
