ABOUT MICHAEL DEGULIS

I am a Principal and the office practice leader of Deloitte Tax LLP’s Boston Multistate Tax (MTS) Practice. I focus my tax practice on state income/franchise and sales/use taxes with a concentration on clients in the Investment Management industry (private equity, financial institution, mutual fund service provider). I have considerable experience in state tax research and analysis, controversy, restructurings, mergers & acquisitions, income tax provision reviews, and compliance. I serve as the Deloitte Multistate Tax’s national multistate M&A Competency Group leader and am a member of Deloitte Multistate Tax’s national Pass-Through leadership team. I am the primary Washington National Tax – Jurisdictional Technical/Controversy Lead resource for Rhode Island and Vermont and an associate JCL resource for Maine, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire.I have been practicing multistate tax for over 17 years at “Big Four” accounting firms and have been with Deloitte Tax since 2006.I am a graduate of St. Anselm College (BA, Applied Economics, summa cum laude), Boston College Law School (JD), and the Boston University School of Law (LL.M, Taxation).I have served as an adjunct professor at Suffolk University’s Sawyer School of Management, teaching classes in state taxation.
