ABOUT MICHAEL D. FOSTER
The focus of my psychiatric career has been working with clients with chronic mental illness. I have many years of experience in community mental health center outpatient clinics as well as inpatient units. My professional experience has primarily been serving the mental health needs of adult individuals of lower socioeconomic populations. This has included both urban and rural populations. I have found this type of setting of psychiatric practice to be the most rewarding. I have a special interest and extensive experience in working with individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities. Other areas of psychiatric expertise include mood and anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, PTSD, LGBT issues,substance abuse/dependence, HIV/AIDS and personality disorders. Member of GLMA and APA. I am proficient in EMR and electronic prescribing. I have been involved with human rights organizations as well as recognizing and maximizing the virtues of diversity of staff and clients to enhance client care, outcomes and staff and client satisfaction.
