About Michael Cooper

I am a scientist in the Materials Under Extreme Environments Group at Los Alamos National Laboratory. My research is focused on materials science to support the development of advanced nuclear technology for small modular reactors, microreactors, space reactors (FSP and SNP), and light water reactors. I lead and carryout work using computational techniques from atomic to engineering scales funded through several DOE programs (including NEAMS), for NASA, and through industry sponsorship. A recent focus of these efforts involves the multiscale propagation and quantification of uncertainty enabled and accelerated through ML techniques.
