About Michael C Meyers Facsm
Michael C. Meyers, PhD, FACSM, is a Professor and Director of the Human Performance Laboratory within the Department of Human Performance and Sport Studies at Idaho State University (ISU). Formerly a Senior Research Scientist at Montana State University, Dr. Meyers is a Fellow in the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), named an Outstanding Researcher at ISU, and is an active member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), the National/Northwest Athletic Trainers\' Association (NATA/NWATA), and the American Society for Testing and Materials International (ASTM). He is also Past-President and member of the Texas Chapter of ACSM (TACSM), and an Adjunct Associate Professor and Visiting Graduate Faculty at Texas A&M.Dr. Meyers holds a Ph.D. in kinesiology from Texas A&M University, a M.S. in equine nutrition/ physiology (TAMU), and a B.S. in animal nutrition from Oklahoma State University. He has an extensive multidisciplinary background in the physiology, epidemiology, and orthopaedic aspects of musculoskeletal trauma, treatment, rehabilitation, and prevention; sport concussion assessment and management; as well as research addressing sport injury across artificial turf infill systems and natural grass surfaces. He has authored 90 journal publications, 260+ abstracts/proceedings, and over 570 scientific/medical presentations, with top-tier research published in the American Journal of Sports Medicine, Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, Journal of Applied Physiology, European Journal of Applied Physiology, Orthopaedic Journal of Sport Medicine, Sports Medicine, and others. Dr. Meyers has been featured in Outside Magazine, Fit Magazine, Newsweek-on-the-Air Radio, and PBS Scientific American Frontiers TV Series, and is a recipient of the Sports Trauma and Overuse Prevention (STOP) Sports Injuries Award from the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.Dr. Meyers is a highly sought-after keynote speaker on sport injuries, and works with numerous organizations involving injury research, product development, and sport performance assessment and development. Past and present collaborations include Baylor College of Medicine/Baylor, Scott and White Health, the University of Texas School of Public Health, CDC, numerous U.S. Olympic National Governing Bodies (NGBs), and the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, U.S. Information Agency, Washington, DC.
