Swindon, GB

At the end of 2025 we decided to rebrand my team to reflect changes in the team\'s roles and responsibilities in recent years. From January 2026 my team will be known as Global Affairs and Responsible Internationalisation. The Global Affairs and Responsible Internationalisation Team leads UKRI’s strategic approach to international research and innovation policy, ensuring that our global engagement, and the collaborations and activities we enable through it, are appropriate, responsible and impactful. We act as a first point of contact and work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and partners to address cross-cutting international issues and activities that span countries, disciplines, and scientific cultures. Through this work, we help shape and influence a globally connected and ethically grounded research and innovation ecosystem, embedding international perspectives across UKRI’s strategy and policy and supporting alignment with broader UK Government priorities. We lead UKRI’s representation in key multilateral research and policy fora, including the Global Research Council, OECD Global Science Forum and Science Europe. We also support UK Government engagement in international science diplomacy platforms such as the G7 and G20. In collaboration with colleagues across UKRI, we ensure organisational readiness to respond to geopolitical developments that may affect UKRI’s international activities and relationships. Through this work, we help safeguard and advance the UK’s position as a trusted and influential global research partner.
