I am a partner with Husch Blackwell in Chicago and a past-President of the Chicago / Midwest Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association (800+ members). As a member of the firm\'s Financial Services & Capital Markets industry team and the Insolvency & Commercial Bankruptcy Practice Group, I regularly guide private businesses, asset purchasers, private equity firms, family offices, bankruptcy committees, and plan trustees through both healthy and distressed transactions and situations, finding elegant solutions to difficult problems. I am also a member of the firm\'s Business Succession Planning team.I grew up in two family businesses—a pharmacy in Skokie, Illinois founded by my maternal grandfather (Endler’s Pharmacy); and a photographic supply distributorship in Chicago, Illinois (Brandess Kalt Aetna f/k/a Brandess Bros.) founded by my paternal grandfather and later succeeded by my father. I learned the challenges facing small and mid-sized businesses at the dinner table. I have authored numerous articles on matters ranging from family business related issues to topics related to economic distress. I regularly speak on entrepreneurial, bankruptcy, and insolvency matters. I am rated by Chambers and Partners, and have been named a 40 Under 40 Emerging Leader by the American Bankruptcy Institute (2021), an Illinois Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine since 2016 and am rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell. I have also been awarded Emerging Leader of the Year by the Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association as well as the M&A Advisor.
