Bucket No! Candle Yes! Why? Buckets don’t fill other buckets but candles light other candles. As I am. I am not filling a bucket but lighting a fire. I believe education is the lighting of a fire rather than the filling of a pail. Instead of going through education as stacking certificates, I seek to leverage my in-class experiences, to positively impact society. With each step of my journey, I seek to light up my environment through the practical application of the knowledge I accrue. Be it applying the physics I learned to research the simultaneous production of electricity from both solar and wind in bid to bring sustainable and affordable electricity to my hometown or pursuing value addition of natural resources after learning about the resource curse in Africa from Economics, or simply dumping my finished Dasani bottled water in the bin that’s clearly marked “Plastic” instead of on the ground.
