I started UTK in 1991 as a young Assistant Professor and have rose in ranks through the years and was Director of the Center for Intelligent Systems and Machine Learning (CISML) from 2012 to 2016. In 2014, I had an IPA position with the Office of Science, ASCR Division of the U.S. Department of Energy in Germantown, MD. I am a full professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) with a joint appointment in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. In 2018 I became a Program Evaluator for the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET.
