ABOUT MICHAEL BERNSTEIN

I believe Canada should be a key player in the global effort to address climate change, not only because it is critical to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions but also because of the opportunities to attract investment, jobs and create broader prosperity for Canadians. As the Executive Director of Clean Prosperity, I spend my days pushing for this vision of Canada as a leader in the low-carbon transition using pragmatic policy solutions. Clean Prosperity conducts policy-relevant research, focused government relations campaigns, strategic media engagement and public education work, among other activities. One of our keys to success is we aim to bring everyone along, finding common ground across stakeholder groups with divergent interests. I am also the Chair of the Advisory Board at Carbon Removal Canada (CRC), where we are focused on the rapid and responsible growth of the carbon dioxide removal sector in Canada. The world will need to build a new industry to remove C02 that is as large as the global oil industry is today. CRC is here to ensure that Canada will be an integral part of that effort. I also have the privilege of serving as a member of Canada\'s Net-Zero Advisory Body, a federal government appointed entity that provides advice to the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change on how to decarbonize effectively. Previously, I spent 5+ years building a more sustainable food system in Ontario. I was the CEO of 2 organic grocery delivery businesses, where I managed a 100+ person team. From 20••••13, I was an Engagement Manager at McKinsey, where I advised Fortune 500 clients, institutional investors and governments on strategic issues. After leaving McKinsey, I helped InvestEco Capital set up an advisory division, where I advised companies in the sustainable food sector. Early in my career, I was focused on international development, including living and working in a rural Tanzanian village. I still keep in touch with many of my friends in Tanzania and go back whenever I can (though my Swahili is getting rusty). Outside of work, you might find me honing my karaoke skills or going to live music. Most of my favourite bands play Indie Rock, but I\'ll tell anyone who will listen that the best song ever made is Ice-Ice Baby. I\'m still working on convincing my kids, which is harder than expected given how talented Raffi is…
