As a compliance officer of a $5 billion dollar publicly traded corporation, I am responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of compliance, ethics, loss control and safety programs within the Southeast region, covering 31 locations in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia. I promote an ethical culture of safety, security and compliance through education and training in addition to my responsibilities surrounding the prevention and detection of detrimental conduct through audits and investigations.• Manage and conduct investigations related to policy violations, fraud, conflict of interest, corruption/bribery, or other ethical concerns, which often stem from ethics helpline/hotline allegations. •Produce high quality, objective, and actionable documentation of these inquiries to enable stakeholders to make informed decisions.• Coordinate with Senior Management and Human Resources to recommend resolution and remediation steps, as well as disciplinary action, at the conclusion of investigations.• Collaborate with Risk Management and the Environmental, Health and Safety Officer to identify location specific and enterprise level risks and manage them effectively.• Utilize internal data and analytics to identify areas of loss or exposure within my area of responsibility to pursue trends and devise improvement strategies.• Perform comprehensive audits, utilizing SAP and other business applications, to analyze operations to validate compliance with company standards, applicable laws and regulations.• Develop and implement education, auditing and monitoring methods to ensure compliance with corporate guidelines, the USSC Federal Sentencing Guidelines, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), and other federal statutes.• Develop and implement corporate standards and new technology for physical security, including access control and CCTV.• Conduct periodic Business Ethics training for key managers, to promote a culture of ethical behavior.
