Leading the ecclesiastical efforts of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia under the direction of the Europe Central Area.In this role I am overseeing the efforts of about 80 volunteers at a time, who are serving in cities and also rural areas of the Mission. These are young adults and also some experienced adult couples who are building the church and the local communities in religious, faith-based, but also humanitarian, welfare and self-reliant ways. While resources are scarce with hardly-functioning logistics in many ways, there is much to do and so fulfilling when it comes to keeping the light of hope burning in the people.Every 6 weeks I have personal interviews with all 80 volunteers, which are a highlight of the service. You become a friend, counselor, personal leader and role model, as you lift up, encourage, develop skills, motivate, direct, cry and pray together, correct, but LOVE them all deeply on their personal way of devotion and consecration.The cultures are fascinating. The life-stories touching. The roads are partially not existing. The nature breathtaking. The people welcoming and kind. The characters diverse. Reality for them is hard, but this is why we serve them in the most sincere christlike way.These 3 years have changed my life! Especially as I can experience all of this together with my wife of 31 years and the love of my life, forever.
