I work for a diverse range of clients operating in the agribusiness sector from farming companies, individuals, landed estates, institutional investors and utility companies. Leading on the Wellcome Trust\'s acquisition of the Cooperative Group\'s farm portfolio for £249m in 2014, the largest open market agricultural land transaction in the UK to date is one on my highlights. This involved coordinating over 40 lawyers from many disciplines within Mills & Reeve in a fast moving and complex transaction, presenting the information in a manageable format to the client and ensuring the transaction was completed on time. I also advise clients on the structure and forms of agreements for the development of their land. This involves the tax implications and structures for pooling proceeds of sale, collaboration and consortium agreements as well as promotion and option agreements for large scale development. My role also involves leading and advising clients on complex development or agricultural matters, be it structures for development of rural land, the acquisition of farms, estates and agricultural businesses.
