About Michael Albanese

Before pursuing mechanical engineering as a career, my earliest work experience was within the construction industry. Specializing my education in heat transfer and HVAC, I quickly found a passion for building systems as an MEP consultant. Throughout my career, I was able to serve as a lead engineer, project manager, commercial market segment director, and director of mechanical engineering. The experiences at KLH Engineers are unique because the entrepreneurial spirit and supportive culture empowers everyone within the organization. It is this environment that enables industry-leading technology and innovation to be consistently created and brought to market. For engineering leaders that started their careers dreaming of creating, inventing, or disrupting, it is a remarkable experience to be a part of what KLH Engineers is building. This has been a career in construction that has had the fun and excitement of working for a startup. One thing that makes KLH Engineers unique in construction is their focus on data and how it can support other stakeholders. As part of the leadership team at KLH Engineers, I was a part of innovations that redefined the role of the consulting engineer by focusing on supporting contractors with data-rich deliverables. Implementing methods that automated and standardized processes throughout the engineering design enabled the art of a consulting engineers services to be delivered with a product-centric approach. Being part of an innovative company was the perfect place to challenge entrenched ideas and test progressive solutions. With firsthand knowledge of some of constructions biggest problems, KLH Engineers was able to incubate new ideas. The latest of which is the construction marketplace, Configure, Inc.Configure seeks to improve the inefficiencies of the procurement process. With a focus on connecting designers and contractors with local vendors, Configure empowers users to easily specify and purchase engineered to order and applied products. Now my focus is solely on leading this new endeavor forward. As a co-founder, the leadership and strategy of Configure, Inc is my responsibility. It is exciting to continue expanding the culture and innovation that was created at KLH Engineers. The future of procurement needs better data. Construction needs a marketplace and we are building it.
