I am working for a non-profit organization that focuses on finding resources to help pay for medications and medical care. My current project is creating content for a website called Plan for Passing On. This site will provide interesting, important, and actionable information about planning for and managing end of life affairs. I have extensive experience utilizing medical literature and an evidence-based approach for the creation of patient education materials, including natural and alternative medicine and non-medical life-style articles. I am able to explain complex medical information in an understandable form appropriate for the patients. I also have experience in medical writing, creating topics for use by physicians at the point of care. I am skilled with critical appraisal of medical articles and guidelines and using this to synthesize medical data, including levels of evidence and strengths of recommendation. I can effectively use critical appraisal skills and literature search to assure clinical accuracy of written information. I will apply this experience to help assess health and patient education websites.
