ABOUT MICAH OKWAH
Physician–epidemiologist focused on cardiovascular outcomes, cardiometabolic risk, and preventive cardiology. My work centers on the early metabolic drivers of cardiovascular disease, including hypertension, insulin resistance, and structural cardiac remodeling. I have authored multiple peer-reviewed publications examining triglyceride–glucose (TyG) index, cardiovascular risk stratification, and hypertension burden in diverse populations.Currently pursuing an MPH in Chronic Disease Epidemiology at Yale School of Public Health (Horstmann Scholar), I integrate clinical medicine, epidemiologic methods, and biomedical informatics to advance earlier detection and prevention of cardiovascular disease. I contribute to NIH-supported research in biomedical informatics and clinical outcomes, with an interest in translating validated risk markers into longitudinal, actionable tools.Alongside traditional research, I am developing AI-enabled preventive cardiovascular intelligence tools designed to transform static risk estimates into understandable, adaptive insights for proactive heart health. My work aims to bridge clinical cardiology, population health, and digital innovation in service of cardiovascular equity.I have completed USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK and will be applying to Internal Medicine residency programs in the 2026–2027 cycle, with long-term plans for fellowship training in cardiology.
