I like to solve problems and leave things better than I found them. That’s probably a good summary of me overall and is consistent with most everything I do.I am a motivated technologist that loves to embrace new technology and change to deliver new and innovative solutions. Throughout my career I’ve had the benefit of never being constrained by my position and have enjoyed broad latitude to explore new things. I currently work for IBM and develop new technologies to accelerate our customer’s ability to consume operational information and to take action on that insight to drive to new levels of operational efficiency. As chief architect of our zManage portfolio I have responsibility for our deep monitoring assets, delivery of insight from our z SMF data as well as Automation to make things happen. My current focus is on operational analytics and insights; creating actions to solve problems as well as brining cloud capability to the z/OS family.Previously at IBM I worked on our middleware portfolio and was the creator of the IBM WebSphere CloudBurst Appliance which has become the IBM Pure Application System. An integrated system that delivers a request driven cloud environment as a solution, not a bag of parts.I’ve also been active in the Open Source community and am a member of the Apache Software Foundation. The project I was most active in was Apache Geronimo and was the Vice President of apache Geronimo and the PMC chair. Prior to all that I was a customer of IBM and other vendors. See the roles below but I have been a z/OS Systems programmer along with CICS and DB2. I have managed distributed systems along with the mainframe and always with the goal of blending the technologies together to create something of greater value than the individual technological pieces.My communication skills are excellent being able to lead and communicate to technical teams as well as explain the business value of technologies to executives in the C-Suite.
