As a First Year Experience Instructor, I teach and mentor first-year students about key campus resources, strategies for maintaining a healthy academic and social balance, skills like time management, study habits, financial literacy, and civic engagement. Throughout my tenure, I have designed and implemented class activities and projects focused on engineering, design, prototyping, and STEM Education, while coordinating campus tours and resource introductions to support student engagement. As a contribution to the First Year Experience Program, I introduced the IBM Freshman Initiative Certificate Badge as a mandatory assignment for the class. I also created a virtual tour video showcasing the Engineering Design Center and Machine Shops and developed a final project based on the KEEN Entrepreneurial Mindset’s 3 C’s—Curiosity, Connections, and Creating Value. Additionally, I published a KEEN card highlighting an innovative approach to introducing entrepreneurial mindset concepts to first-year students through a product functionality assignment.
