About Melissa Forkner

I have a depth of project management and systems engineering experience leading efforts of various sizes and products, including Agile software development. I have lead teams to successful software and hardware upgrade deliveries for multiple aerospace defense products. This success has been tied to my ability to understand the project and team member challenges and motivate my team members to achieve our quality, schedule, and budget goals. Through my experiences in the Textron Engineering Leadership Development program I’ve learned to handle ambiguity and embrace new experiences. I presented with 2 fellow Textron Leadership Development Program women engineers at the Society of Women Engineers 2015 National Conference, on the Benefits of a Multi-Functional, Multi-Industry and Multi-Location career. It was a great opportunity to speak on my experience in the Leadership Development Program and encourage collegiates and professionals to pursue different opportunities and embrace the ambiguity of new roles.
