As the founder, CEO/Chairman of Metric Marketing, my role is to work on our business to meet our growth goals and coach/lead my direct reports. I spend a great deal of my time working on our business strategy, internal marketing, organic accounts growth models and acquisition strategy. At Metric we take our culture very seriously, so I get to spend my time living and teaching our core values: Passion, Balance and Camaraderie. ABOUT JOHN MCDONALD
I am the founder and CEO of Metric Marketing. I earned a Bachelor of Commerce with majors in accounting and marketing from the University of Manitoba. Graduating in 1994, I joined my father’s corporate travel business, helping double its size and eventually sell the business to a global travel company. I learned extensive sales, operations, financial and human resource management during my tenure with this service business. Along the way I learned the true meaning of service and customer satisfaction. I started Metric Marketing in with my Co-Founder Justin Nedecky. I have been very involved in the strategy and growth the company has experienced to date. Passion: I love the game of business and my goal is to play the game at the highest level possible and, most importantly, enjoy the ride along the way. I also love sales, where I started my business career. If you ever want to grab a coffee or have a video chat about your business, I would love that, as I find I learn from every conversation I have.Hobbies: I am a hockey fan, I enjoy following the NHL and I still play the odd rec game. I like to play golf, especially golf courses I have never played before. The highlight of my life as a fan of the sport was witnessing Tiger Woods win the British Open in at St. Andrews, Scotland. Family: My partner Rachelle Taylor and I have been together since 2013. We have a daughter named Sky Tommi Joan Taylor, born in 2018. I have 2 very wonderful children from my first marriage, Taylor McDonald (2001) and Brynn McDonald (2003) who I love very much.Favorite Books: Favorite business books include: Playing To Win (Lafley, Martin), Built to Sell (Warrilow), Outthink the Competition (Kripendorff), Traction (Wickman). My favorite spiritual book is no contest: A New Earth - Awakening to your Life’s Purpose (Eckhart Tolle)
