About Meriam Ahmad
I’m a junior at Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service pursuing a major in International Economics and a certificate in International Business Diplomacy. I’m passionate about problem-solving, data analysis, research, and public policy issues. On campus, I serve as the Vice Speaker of the Senate for the Georgetown University Student Association, Georgetown’s undergraduate student government. I also work as the Director of Operations and Management for the Office of Muslim Life, where I assist Imam Yahya Hendi with the day-to-day operations of Georgetown’s Muslim chaplaincy. I have worked as a TA for Python, a staff writer for the Georgetown Voice, and the Director of Personnel for Georgetown Political Consulting. This past summer, I worked at the Edunomics Lab of Georgetown University, where I used R to update cleaning scripts that process raw education finance data files for the NERD$ database, the first-ever national data set of public K-12 spending by school. Last summer, I served as a research assistant on coliving housing for Georgetown Law’s Coalition on Racial Equity and Democratic Economy under Professor Anthony Cook. I previously conducted my own research on the feasibility of affordable housing development in San Jose, California and synthesized my findings in a paper and presentation, receiving a perfect score on the AP Research exam.
