ABOUT MEREDITH WHITMER

As a Senior at the University of South Carolina, I am pursuing a degree in Risk Management and Insurance with a concentration in Business Analytics at the Darla Moore School of Business. My academic journey has equipped me with a solid foundation of organization, self-motivation, and communication. In addition to my studies, I am the proud owner and operator of a small online business specializing in custom canvases and art, a venture I started over a year ago. This endeavor not only serves as a creative outlet but has also significantly enhanced my abilities in business and time management. This past summer I was an Underwriting Tech Intern with Kinsale Insurance in Richmond, VA. I was able to apply what I have learned in the classroom to real-world scenarios, enhancing my understanding of the insurance industry. My diverse interests extend to my appreciation for numbers, which has enhanced my abilities in applied mathematics and problem-solving. As a member of the professional fraternity for insurance, Gamma Iota Sigma, I engage in weekly meetings exploring advancements and pertinent topics in the insurance industry, furthering my industry knowledge. Additionally, I am actively involved in my sorority, Alpha Delta Pi, where I contribute to philanthropic efforts at the Ronald McDonald House of Columbia. My dedication to continuous learning and leadership has been recognized through my membership in the Order of Omega, an esteemed Greek honors and leadership society. Here, I engage with like-minded peers who share a passion for community involvement and embracing academic challenges. Motivated by my dedication to ongoing growth and development, I am excited to apply my academic knowledge, experience, and meticulous work ethic in the insurance industry. After my graduation this May, I am eager to begin my career in Dallas, Texas as a Commercial Lines Underwriter Trainee with FCCI.
