We need to prioritize mental wellness in our schools at all levels. For students to succeed, it’s essential that educators and clinicians feel support from their school community. I am committed to providing staff with evidence-based practices to address the current complex classroom needs through coaching and developing professional development to assist in utilizing best practices. As the Director of Content & Learning, I bring nearly thirty years of experience to collaborate with school districts as well as the talented team at Thrive Alliance Group (TAG). By harnessing school-based mental health counseling, training, coaching, and certification programs, we can drive data-driven results that promote wellness to \"thrive\" in all aspects of our schools. SERVANT LEADERSHIP A servant leader at my core, one of my most meaningful experiences as an educator has been leading teams of high school students to provide summer science camps for underprivileged youth in Appalachia. In addition to coaching the volunteers in teaching strategies and cultural respect, we created and implemented engaging science instructional activities and contributed to providing the community with 2 free daily camper meals, home construction, school maintenance, and food pantry services. EDUCATIONAL MISSION My passion for fostering educational equity across student ages, backgrounds, and abilities was ignited as a child watching a relative struggle with a learning disability. My experience as a special & general education teacher, Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant, and Teacher Coach enables me to create unique solutions for student success and present interactive staff training to establish a strong foundation for professional collaboration on a broad range of topics including:* Increasing Student Engagement * Understanding Behavior Basics (functions of behavior along with proactive & reactive strategies)* Foundational principles in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion * How Social Media Impacts the Mental Health of Our Youth * Addressing Stress & Anxiety in the Classroom * Paraprofessionals: Decreasing Student Support while Increasing Independence * Identifying Appropriate Accommodations and Modifications * Bridging the Divide between Special & General Education * Utilizing Special Education Code
