ABOUT MERCEDES TIGGS

Mercedes Tiggs is an educator, professor, consultant, and Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Mercedes received her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from San Diego State and Master of Social Work with a concentration in Community Organizing, Planning, and Administration from the University of Southern California. Mercedes is an Assistant Professor/Behavioral Health Counselor with Behavioral Health Counseling Services at Palomar College. She is also an adjunct Social Work Professor at the School of Behavioral and Social Sciences and Consumer and Family Studies at San Diego City College. Mercedes is also the Founder and Owner of Eight16 Culinary Therapy. Eight16 aims to help individuals develop a mindfulness relationship with food and cooking. It uses the process of preparing and cooking meals to reduce stress, improve mood, and increase self-esteem. It is a non-traditional therapeutic approach to holistic healing. Mercedes is an interactive, family-systems therapist. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. Mercedes has worked with clients of different ages, ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, and religious and socioeconomic backgrounds. She utilizes a multidimensional approach to therapy, exploring each individual\'s biological, psychological, social, physical, and spiritual needs. As an interactive, family-systems therapist, she desires to come alongside others to assist them in healing from trauma, building self-worth, improving communication in their relationships, and reaching their goals.
