ABOUT MENE DEMESTIHAS
Physicians can and should be contributing to and leading in the business of healthcare. If you are able to interact with other subspecialties to care for your patients, you can learn business, sales, marketing and finance to power a company. We\'ve been our own roadblock and I believe the more we are engaged, the better the system is for it. My first startup role showed me that affecting change in healthcare was the work, not a detour from it. I want to always be working on how we \"can\" do something to help our patients rather than focusing on why it can\'t be done. My founding thesis is that if you go to the frontline, observe and listen to the people who do the work, you can support them in ways that would otherwise be impossible from behind a desk or in a boardroom. The people who are responsible for the work and the patient care will always be the source of truth for what works and what doesn\'t. Serving them in a business capacity is an honor. I\'m a board-certified emergency physician, currently the Founder and CEO of Metrias Medical. We deploy remote discharge expeditors to capacity-constrained hospitals. Because the work is remote, we power our expeditors with technology that gives them real-time visibility into discharge barriers and automates the coordination that would otherwise eat a case manager\'s entire day. We work within each hospital\'s existing systems, adapting to what is already in place and proving what works through granular, timestamped data.
