ABOUT SOPHIA MENDOZA
My journey as an NCAA Division I student-athlete, paired with my professional background in business development, has given me a unique perspective on the ways sport can shape lives. I am passionate about using sport not only as a platform for competition, but as a catalyst for leadership, mentorship, and meaningful change.My career has taught me that the same principles that drive success in sport—discipline, resilience, and teamwork—are the ones that drive success in business. As a former Division I soccer player at Cal Poly, I learned how to perform under pressure and lead within a team. In my business development roles, I applied those same skills to identify growth opportunities, build partnerships, and deliver measurable results. Now, as a Sport Management graduate student at the University of San Francisco, I’m focused on bridging these two worlds. I leverage my background in sales, strategy, and relationship building to empower athletes through mentorship & development, build inclusive, sustainable programs in sport management, and expand access to resources that support both performance and well-being. I aim to bring authenticity, collaboration, and purpose to every role I step into.
