Mel has more than 22 years of experience in systems design for major rail projects. He has extensive expertise in systems compliance gained in senior systems management and design roles on some of the world’s highest-profile rail projects, including High Speed 1 (HS1, formerly Channel Tunnel Rail Link), the West Coast Mainline (WCML) in the UK, and Korea’s Incheon International Airport Railroad. Mel was responsible for the formulation and execution of MetrôBarra\'s strategy to deliver Metrô Line 4. As the Project\'s Engineering Manager, Mel is accountable for the delivery of an integrated railway comprising of systemwide components, rolling stock and other associated metro facilities. This task will be achieved by leading a hand-picked team of experienced multi-disciplinary professionals who will execute this complex project within the challenging timescales. Previously Mel was Bechtel’s Project Systems Lead – Infrastructure on the MetrôRio Rolling Stock Integration Project. Prior to this role, he worked with a supplier on a vital communications protocol for the Dulles Metrorail Extension, and previously spent seven years on the Incheon International Airport Rail project in Korea. His specific expertise includes engineering management, systems engineering and architecture, interface management and configuration and change management, requirements traceability, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and catenary and traction power systems.
