ABOUT MELISSA TAORMINA GUSKE

I am an attorney with over 14 years of health care fraud, waste, and abuse experience. I have an LL.M.(graduate degree in Law) in Health Law, and am licensed in Illinois. I handle-Investigations: I investigate complex Medicaid fraud cases; participate in an investigative team on a case-by-case basis; and complete key investigative tasks as part of an investigative plan-Prosecutions: I prosecute criminal cases and litigate civil cases (involving false claims, kickbacks, and violations of the physician self-referral law) in both State and Federal courts. I actively participate on cases with the U.S. Attorney’s Office (Northern District of Illinois); and if declining a case, I may refer the case to another agency with prosecutorial authority.I attend training programs conducted by the National Association of Medicaid Fraud Control Units (NAMFCU), whose mission includes combatting Medicaid provider fraud.Health care is a highly regulated and continually changing industry that engages many law and policy disciplines. I am always happy to talk about my perspective with fellow professionals.
