Melissa is managing the expansion of the nonprofit media project Kidsburgh to further achieve its foundation-funded mission: to help the families of western Pennsylvania discover and make use of the many resources for children in the region and to offer solid reporting and expert advice about the challenges of raising healthy, thriving children. This work includes assigning and editing daily coverage of all things family-related, managing a team of freelancers and creating a range of resource guides around subjects like mental health and K-12 learning. This work includes daily use of analytics and frequent communication with our growing audience to plan the best mix of storytelling. Melissa also amplifies the work of Kidsburgh’s collaborative projects, including the Parents as Allies research initiative in partnership with IDEO, HundrED and the Brookings Institution.
