As the President of Security First Insurance Company, Melissa (Burt) DeVriese stands out as one of only a few women to hold such a prestigious position in the insurance industry. She has been a driving force, guiding the company\'s operations and leading the development of strategic initiatives and corporate policies. Before being appointed to the role of President, Melissa served as General Counsel and as Chief Administrative Officer.Melissa\'s distinguished career began in Washington, D.C, where she held significant legal and regulatory roles at a leading national law firm, served a U.S. Congressman, and was a Presidential Appointee in the Department of Transportation. Her extensive background in regulatory and legal affairs is pivotal in guiding Security First\'s decision-making and fostering strong collaboration with state regulators.In her role, Melissa actively collaborates with state lawmakers to drive legislative changes that improve Florida’s homeowners insurance climate. Her dedication to the community aligns with Security First’s promise to support Floridians through every storm, year after year.Melissa holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami and a Juris Doctorate from Georgetown Law Center. She is a licensed attorney in Florida, Washington D.C, and California.Beyond her professional achievements, Melissa is deeply committed to community service. She chairs the board of Easterseals of Northeast Central Florida and serves on the executive board of The Institutes. Her past leadership roles include President of the Junior League of Daytona Beach and board member positions at the Ormond Memorial Art Museum and FAIR (The Federal Association for Insurance Reform).
