ABOUT MELISSA COSSIO
I am an attorney with more than 20 years of experience in the public and private sector, in Washington D.C. and Lima. I have experience in administrative, contractual, employment, international, and public procurement law. Currently, I serve as director of the Department of Legal Services of the Organization of American States where I provide advice on matters of inter-institutional cooperation, contracts, tenders, resolution of labor disputes and intellectual property. I have also served as legal advisor to the Procurement Department of the same organization. In Peru, I held, among others, the position of legal advisor of ProInversion in matters related to the bidding processes for the concession of public infrastructure and the formation of public-private partnerships, and associate of a law firm advising on issues of corporate law, contract law and arbitration concerning companies in the engineering and construction sector. I am a Summa Laude Lawyer from The University of Lima, a Master in Business Law from Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC) and a Master in Public Procurement from The George Washington University Law School in Washington, DC.
