About Melissa Slebrich
As a project and people leader with over 15 years of experience in operations, events, and executive support, I excel in dynamic environments, bringing both a creative perspective and strong business expertise. I began my career as an Executive Assistant to the Founder & Executive Director of the entrepreneurship center at the University of Pittsburgh, where I worked for 7 years. This role naturally evolved to include events, marketing and people management, all the while I continued providing EA support to the Director. My time spent working in entrepreneurial support at Pitt had me curious about startup and tech culture so in 2014, I eagerly took an opportunity to work for a startup. I was hired as the Executive Assistant to the Founder & CEO of an innovative cable TV startup called Layer3 TV, and relocated to Denver to open their headquarters. Over the next 4 years I supported the CEO, CMO, CTO and a handful of other execs with tasks from scheduling and travel to rebranding and office design. When Layer3 TV was acquired by T-Mobile in 2018, I was entrusted with many details behind the scenes of the acquisition, and was kept on by T-Mobile as a Senior EA. True to my roots, my career led me back to Pittsburgh. I worked for Uber ATG for 2.5 years where I supported two Software Directors. Highlights of my time at Uber include planning and executing a Software Leadership Summit in Montana, partnering across teams to produce a company wide Science Fair and running regular engagement events for the teams. In 2020 I joined robotics startup, Gecko Robotics, where my impact has been focused on workplace operations and employee engagement. I’ve worked on many different projects but I consider one of my strongest skills to be my ability to execute a vision from the ground up, with a keen eye for detail as it relates quality and alignment with company culture. Tangibly, I built the mold for Gecko’s onboarding ‘Robot Camp’ and I lead planning and logistics for our all-company summits, which are held twice a year and include 4 days of keynotes, hackathons, product demos and elaborate social events. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband, daughter and our two dogs, hiking, running, live music and events, and film photography.
