Transition Specialist and former special education teacher (ESE) & Section 504 specialist for the Alachua Academy and the Alachua Regional Juvenile Detention Center. The Alachua Academy is a substance abuse treatment center for females ages 13-18. Current responsibilities involve preparing our youth to re-enter their home community. This entails teaching our youth how to fill out job applications, create a personal resume with accompanying cover letter, teaching both soft & hard job skills as well as independent living skills. Previous responsibilities included coordinating all services for students in both facilities including writing/amending/monitoring/implementation of student IEP\'s and 504 plans; administrative duties include finding professional development (PD) seminars/webinars/conferences for the education staff, developing PD course shells in the school-based data system, and adding/maintaining the education staff\'s PD points, leading education team meetings as needed; contributing to the development of science curriculum; teaching in both facilities as needed; anything as directed by the school leader.
