About Melissa Rannels

As a senior employer benefits consultant with over 20 years of industry experience, I lead Mercer\'s expatriate benefits Center of Excellence. After graduating from UC Berkeley, I spent several years in San Francisco consulting on employer group benefits for both US and global health plans. In 2015, after 20 years in the Bay Area, I moved to Southern California. I manage a high performing team of specialists focusing on helping employers place the right group medical and risk programs for expat employees. Employers make significant investments in individuals on international assignments, and their satisfaction with the medical benefits is critical to the success of the assignment.I work closely with colleagues in both the Multinational Consulting Group and US Health & Benefits teams to holistically support our client’s business needs. I am passionate about delivering excellent client results, developing efficient processes, and maintaining a highly engaged team. Along the way, I created and managed an independent, textile-focused maker space, and wrote two instructional sewing books. On the weekends, you’re likely to find me making spreadsheets, learning industrial arts, or tinkering with my latest bread recipe.
