ABOUT MELISSA PARISI

She oversees the Worldwide Privacy Team within the global Legal department to ensure organizational compliance with laws, regulations, and standards and enable business growth. Melissa also advises on data protection and privacy issues, identifies legal and regulatory compliance challenges, and coordinates with other in-house counsel within the global Legal department to defend against privacy-related lawsuits and enforcement actions.Prior to joining Herbalife, Melissa was a senior litigation associate in the Los Angeles office of Sidley Austin LLP, a top tier international law firm. Her practice focused on government enforcement matters, internal investigations, and commercial litigation and disputes. Melissa has represented companies in the health, wellness and fitness industry, as well as a wide range of other industries, including apparel, pharmaceutical, medical device, energy, oil and gas, banking, and insurance.At Sidley Austin LLP, Melissa represented companies in several significant trials and arbitrations. For example, she defended a leading mutual life insurance company in a rare jury trial in a class action and obtained a full defense verdict. The matter was selected to the Daily Journal’s list of the “Top Verdicts” of 2018, which recognizes the “largest and most significant” verdicts and appellate reversals in California. Melissa also successfully prosecuted an international arbitration on behalf of a major athletic apparel company against a distribution company, resulting in a multi-million dollar judgment for breach of contract and a permanent injunction for misappropriation of trademarks and website registrations.Melissa earned her J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law and B.A. cum laude from the University of California, San Diego. She is the President of the Philippine American Bar Association Foundation (2016 to present) and a Board Member of the Northwestern Law Alumni Club of Los Angeles.
