ABOUT MELISSA MESEK
I founded my own business during my undergraduate studies in Translation and Interpreting, driven by a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to apply my skills in a real-world context. Initially a solo venture, the business laid the foundation for my strategic thinking and analytical capabilities.During my Master’s in International Business Management at Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU), I scaled the business into an internationally trading SME, leading a five-person team and expanding operations across borders. This experience deepened my understanding of global business dynamics, team leadership, and operational strategy.Motivated by a passion for research and knowledge-sharing, I transitioned into academia, accepting a full-time Lecturer position at GCU. I later defended my Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, contributing to the university’s renowned Business School and its commitment to Equality and Diversity. To this day, I continue to contribute to knowledge creation and its sharing, by focusing on entrepreneurship as a driver for societal and economic inclusion. My research interests include gender equality coupled with public policymaking, female entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial ecosystems, and international contexts.
