About Melissa Joy Tumlos
Originally from Chicago, IL, my passion for education, artistic expression, and social justice has taken me to wonderful horizons in pursuit of serving utmost joy and holistic care to people from all walks of life. Currently based in San Diego, CA, I earned my B.A. in Sociology, accompanied by a minor in Spanish studies, from the University of San Diego in May of 2023. Furthermore, I am pursuing my Master’s of Social Work at the University of Southern California beginning Spring 2026.As the Housing Specialist with People Assisting The Homeless (PATH), I am driven to connect justice-involved individuals experiencing homelessness in San Diego with temporary and permanent housing solutions. Drawing on ‘Housing First’ models, I am deeply committed to empowering our unhoused neighbors by providing innovative, resourceful pathways that address their unique needs, help them achieve long-term housing stability, and uplift their personal success.
