About Melissa Friedman
Melissa is Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director of Epic Theatre Ensemble (2001 to present) and believes strongly in the transformational power and community-building potential of theatre. With Epic, she is an actor, director, playwright, teaching artist, producer, mentor, and leader. Some of her most recent on-stage credits include: Tiresias in ANTIGONE, Dr. Tasha Stockmann in ENEMIES, and Margot in THE WINNING SIDE. Melissa is a proud Mentor with the Arthur Miller Foundation, mentoring Public School Theater teachers across NYC. For over 10 years, she has led citywide professional development workshops for the NYC DOE\'s theater program. She has taught workshops at many arts education conferences as well as NYU, Juilliard, and Oberlin. With Epic, she founded the award-winning SHAKESPEARE REMIX program, for which she received the 2009 Coming Up Taller Award from First Lady Michelle Obama at the White House.
