Aurora Service Learning is a semester long course for Juniors and Seniors. Students learn about various types of community service and will be required to spend time outside of school hours for service projects. Collaboration, problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, and leadership are some of the essential skills that will be developed throughout the students\' experiences in this course. Through the application of their knowledge with personal experiences, our students will develop an understanding of the needs of others, an altruistic desire to serve, and the necessary tools on how to do so. Topics to be covered include but are not limited to history of philanthropy in the U.S, study of current major service organizations, legal implications for service organizations, project planning, and functioning as a member of a project team.
